Where to begin

If you’ve never used Microsoft Flow or even heard of it before, you’ve come to the right place.  The program is an incredibly versatile tool, and provides users with automation solutions in order to make complex business tasks more efficient and straight forward.  Essentially, the program triggers workflow events and ends them with an action in response to the event.

We’ve put together a few beginner level Flows that you can create with the program, so you can see what kind of tasks can be automated to save you time in the office.

Automate onboarding with Forms

Bringing on new employees involves organising a multitude of logistical and often time-consuming onboarding tasks.  Instead of having to individually reach out to every new employee when it comes to gathering things such as basic employee information, users can set up a custom Form to be filled in with the desired information, and then have it sent to the appropriate staff using Flow.  This helps to avoid losing information deep within your email inbox, and allows for a more timely onboarding process.

Stay up to date with the news

Using Flow, users can keep up to date with the daily news by setting up an approval process and having news items delivered straight to their inbox.  Simply choose your desired news feed, for example BBC News, set up the approval task within Flow, and even send out a tweet of the news item automatically from Flow.

Get weather reports delivered to email

Predicting what weather might be around the corner can be incredibly handy if your business is affected by weather conditions.  Microsoft Flow has a number of options for workflow items referred to as “recurring manual tasks”, and one of those includes getting daily weather reports delivered to your email and phone.

Thanks Michael, you were patient and happy to go back over knowledge whenever people needed it. I love how excited you got over some of the technical aspects - they were really interesting! Sometimes it was a little hard to hear, might have been connectivity issues on my end, not sure. Thanks so much! -Excel Intermediate Sydney

The topics chosen were very useful. I especially think the If statements, vlook up, pivot table and flash fill will work well for me in the future. Michael was very helpful and always stopped to assist those who needed further info. He was also happy to answers questions in general related to excel. Potentially needed some polls or questions within the training to check learning and understanding. -Excel Intermediate Sydney
