Tips and Tricks
Optimism, enthusiasm and a good attitude – makes everything in business easier. A great attitude boosts you up when you’re feeling down and charges you when you’re already “on a roll”.
1.YOU are in control of your attitude
Attitude does not emerge from the things that happen to you, but rather from how you decide to interpret and react to what happens to you. A reactive person allows others and external forces to determine how they will feel. A proactive person decides how they will feel regardless of what’s going on around them.
Therefore, instead of waiting for external things to make you happy, be happy and then watch how that influences the things that go on around you. That is, instead of telling yourself that if something good happens, then you’ll be happy. Be happy first. Happiness is an attitude, not a situation.
2. Adopt positive beliefs
Your beliefs and rules about life and work determine how you interpret events and therefore your attitude. Decide to adopt “strong” beliefs that lead to positive outcomes and positive attitudes.
Think of life not as something that’s happening to you, but as something that’s happening for you. The next time you find yourself thinking, “Why is this happening to me?” choose to have a relaxed attitude. Instead, ask yourself, “What am I supposed to learn or gain from this”? or “How will this help me grow and become a better, more enlightened being?”
3. Create a “library” of positive thoughts
Make the effort to spend at least 15 minutes every morning to read, view or listen to something that inspires or motivates you. If you do this regularly, you’ll have those thoughts and feelings ready at hand (or rather, ready to mind) when events don’t go exactly the way you’d prefer.
4. Ignore whiners and complainers
Whiners and complainers see the world through dull glasses. They’d rather talk about what’s irreparably wrong, rather than breaking problems down in order to find a solution.
5. Have a purpose
Having a purpose in life gives you a fixed point in the horizon to focus on, so that in unsteady and challenging times you can remain focussed, bringing meaning and purpose into your life and knowing why you are here. It all starts with your attitude.
